Eating organic has been all the rage for a number of years now. Why does everything so healthy also have to be expensive? There are options. A group known as the Environmental Working Group came up with a list of fruits and vegetables that should always be bought organic, and a list of foods that are safer to eat using conventional farming methods. The list was determined based on the pesticide and contaminants found on the food. They call them the dirty dozen.

Strawberries are on the list of the dirty dozen. Strawberries are often sold on the side of road. Ask the farmer if they are grown with or without pesticides. The link below leads you to the full list. Buyer beware.
